Owen completed clinical fellowships with world experts at the Sydney Shoulder Research Institute, under the guidance of Mr Ben Cass, Mr Allan Young and Mr Jeff Hughes, and the Upper Limb Unit at the Centre for Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery at Wrightington Hospital in the United Kingdom, working with Mr Mike Walton, Prof Len Funk, Prof Adam Watts and Mr Steve Bale. These fellowships gave Owen experience in the management of complex upper limb conditions.
Having returned to Melbourne, Owen currently operates publicly at Sandringham District Hospital and Frankston Hospital. He currently consults and operates out of Linacre Private Hospital, Peninsula Private Hospital, Langwarrin Orthopaedics and Cabrini Malvern Private Hospital.
Owen has a keen interest in conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow as well general orthopaedic trauma, and specialises in arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery and traumatic conditions affecting these joints.
